Rewards:
Use a variety of rewards that have meaning and values to the student.
• Give specific, positive verbal acknowledgement for improved behavior or performance
• Provide specifically written acknowledgements (e.g., notes on student’s desk, comments on papers, or notes mailed hometo the student)
• Make positive phone calls to individual students
• Send communication with positive notes or phone calls to parents
• Encourage the efforts or attempts of students
• Recognize students on the intercom, in school newsletter, at assemblies, etc…
• Implement Student of the Week award
• Allow seating choice for the period, day, or week
• Provide positive teacher recognition (e.g., smile, thumbs up, nod, a shake of the hand, etc…)
• Give privileges at lunch, in the classroom or for special activities (e.g., lunch with a friend, partnering with a friend for an activity, attending an event, etc…)
• Perform a school or community service project (e.g., tutoring another student, campus beautification, community involvement)
• Earn additional classroom time to complete an activity Grant free homework pass, extra play time, pass to the library
• Allow listening to music
• Have lunch with a Very Important Person (VIP) such as teacher, principal, coach, custodian or other staff
• Create extra‐credit opportunities to improve grades
• Allow access to computer
• Provide healthy snacks
• Establish a Hall of Fame photograph wall
• Appoint student to be a leader (e.g., line leader, pass out papers, messenger)
• Grant school privileges (e.g., Principal for an hour, Office Assistant, Library Assistant)
• Allow working with a friend
• Provide free tickets to class or school store
• Authorize a visit to the class or school treasure chest
• Give stickers, certificates, special pencils, etc…
